Carleton University has raised more than $300 million with a few months still to go in its Collaborate Campaign, the school’s president announced on Tuesday.
Benoit-Antoine Bacon spoke to a capacity crowd at the regular Mayor’s Breakfast series on Tuesday morning and announced that the Ottawa post-secondary institution’s fundraising campaign, launched publicly back in 2015, has surpassed its $300-million goal. Carleton University said in a statement that it has solicited funding from 25,000 donors, and the campaign will continue until a wrap-up event on April 17.
Some of the funds have already been put to use on campus to improve services, programs and research resources for faculty and students. A few of the initiatives receiving funding through Collaborate are the Nicol Entrepreneurial Institute, the Jarislowsky Chair in Water and Global Health and engineering scholarships aimed at recruiting students from abroad.
