The Ottawa Tech Open is teeing off once again this summer, bringing together startup founders, entrepreneurs, investors and those immersed in the city’s tech community, all for a good cause.
After a successful inaugural event last year, the 2nd annual golf tournament is taking place Tuesday, June 17th, 2025 at The Marshes Golf Club in Kanata and there are still some spots available for those interested in playing. For those more keen to mingle than golf, the tournament will be followed by a networking event, for which separate tickets are also available.
The tech-centric golf event is raising money to benefit Junior Achievers Ottawa, delivered by the Ottawa Network for Education (ONFE), which was always a main goal for the Tech Open’s organizing committee.
“We were so happy with the success of last year’s Tech Open that we knew right away we wanted to do it again this summer. Being able to help a local charity while also bringing together people in the local tech space is such an exciting opportunity” explained the event’s brainchild Julia Slanina, Founder & CEO of Treehouse.
The event came to fruition when Slanina and the organizing committee noticed a gap in the Ottawa tech ecosystem and wanted to mix up the regular networking opportunities with a way to meet new faces and bring those in the tech community out for a day on the links.
Wesley Clover is back again as the event’s major sponsor and working with the planning committee to help coordinate the networking event for those who might not golf or who might miss out on getting a ticket to the golf portion of the day. There are multiple returning sponsors and some new ones but the committee is looking for more sponsors and local involvement from the business community. Anyone interested in sponsoring or making a prize donation can reach out to Josh Raganold at jraganold@welchllp.com directly.
The tournament kicks off with a 12pm shotgun start followed by the networking portion at 5pm which will include innovative ways for the tech community to interact. Tickets for the golf portion as well as networking only are still available but selling quickly.
