After nearly 30 years in the C-suite of some of the city’s largest tech firms – and vineyards – Shaun McEwan is joining one of the capital’s leading defence and security companies.
McEwan will officially join ADGA Group as chief financial officer in September. He spent more than a decade at Quarterhill (formerly Ottawa-based WiLAN) as chief financial officer and took the reins as interim CEO to guide the company through a significant pivot.
He’s also held the chief financial officer position at BreconRidge and Calian, and is the co-owner of Carp-based KIN Vineyards.

“(McEwan’s) indisputable track record in driving and scaling growth is timely for ADGA,” Françoise Gagnon, the company’s CEO, said in a statement.
With more than 700 employees across Canada, including upwards of 430 in Ottawa, ADGA Group is the second-largest defence and security company in the National Capital Region, according to OBJ’s Book of Lists.
“This is a great time to join ADGA,” McEwan said. “The company is executing on a forward thinking and exciting strategy. I look forward to playing a role in bringing this company to bold new heights.”
ADGA has a niche expertise in ballistic computing, mission critical software design as well as modelling and simulation training services. It also offers enterprise computing services including information and project management, distributed computing and cloud computing, and enterprise architecture.
The company expanded its reach into the security market in 2018 with its acquisition of Extravision Video Technologies and Presidia Security Consulting.
