KPMG’s office in Ottawa is pleased to announce that Andrew Newman has been appointed office managing partner for the Ottawa and Kanata offices.
Newman joined the Ottawa office of KPMG in 1992, where he worked initially with technology, media and telecommunication enterprise clients before specializing in the non-profit and government sectors. Newman became an audit partner in 2005 and since that time has held several important leadership roles. In 2011, he was named the Canadian leader of the education practice and led the not-for-profit and public sector practice in Ottawa.
Newman is passionate about his community. He sat on the Public Sector Accounting Board of Canada for 12 years, including six in the highly visible vice-chair role, and is a supporter of United Way where he was proud to have led the first “Platinum” United Way Campaign for the Ottawa office.

Newman is a lifelong resident of Ottawa. He has a close connection to the enterprise market in Ottawa as he comes from a family business with a long history in agriculture, which is now an impressive fourth-generation enterprise.
Newman succeeds Grant McDonald, who was in the office managing partner role for nearly a decade. Moving forward, McDonald will focus on his role as global sector leader for aerospace and defence, which he was appointed to in November 2019. KPMG thanks McDonald for his strong leadership in Ottawa, as well as applauds his years of involvement in the Ottawa charitable community.
