Editor's Note

Clarification: The contract to repair the Confederation Building’s windows was awarded to Heritage Grade a division of Asbex Ltd. An earlier version of the story only listed the parent company, which was named in federal procurement records, and also operates an environmental contracting division. This story has been amended to include more information about Heritage Grade.

2017-11-07

An Ottawa contractor has won a three-year contract to repair the windows on a historic building within the parliamentary precinct.

Federal records show Heritage Grade, a division of Asbex Ltd., received the $6.2 million contract to repair approximately 650 wood windows on the Confederation Building, using historic materials and methods.

Heritage Grade’s past projects include the Library of Parliament, West Block, East Block, the National War Memorial and Rideau Hall, among others.
