Dave Walsh has taken on a new role with KPMG Canada, becoming office managing partner in the National Capital Region, the company announced recently.
Walsh succeeds Andrew Newman, who held the role since 2020 and will be retiring in September.
“It has been an honour to serve as (office managing partner) since 2020 and I am confident that (Walsh’s) leadership and vision will be instrumental in continuing to drive our success in the National Capital Region,” Newman said in a recent LinkedIn post.

Walsh’s role will focus on fostering teamwork and collaboration within the firm, according to a news release from KPMG Canada.

I’ve always loved leading people and helping them drive their careers,” Walsh said in an interview Tuesday with OBJ.
A Queen’s University business graduate, Walsh steps into his role after having worked with KPMG since 2023 as a national development partner on its tax leadership team. Before KPMG, Walsh worked with BDO Canada and EY with its tax teams in Toronto and New York City.
“First and foremost, KPMG is a great firm. We’ve got great clients. We have a great brand in the city. It’s working with a lot of our great clients, helping to lead the growth of the firm, to win even more great clients, getting reconnected into the Ottawa business community, which I am passionate about,” he said.
The Ottawa native said he looks forward to working in the capital to “connect with (his) roots.”
“It’s a strategic leadership position, which was exciting. It is coming back to my Ottawa roots and getting connected to the Ottawa community, which I’ve always been passionate about and a believer in. I really wanted to be able to reconnect with the Ottawa business community. We have a cottage in the Ottawa Valley, so it keeps me grounded and close to home,” he said.
Walsh is a sports fan, as apparent by the baseball caps in his office, and said he looks forward to cheering for local sports teams, like the Ottawa Senators and Redblacks.
“I’m excited for the Sens to make the playoffs this year now that I’m back in Ottawa. I love cheering on local sports,” he said.
Walsh received a Forty Under 40 award in 2010 from Ottawa Business Journal and what was then the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce.
