A new signature event is set to grace the Ottawa business and philanthropic calendar this summer. CHEO Foundation and the prestigious The Royal Ottawa Golf Club are proud to announce the inaugural CHEO Charity Classic, presented by RBC, taking place on Monday, July 7, 2025. This premier tournament marks the beginning of a three-year commitment with The Royal Ottawa Golf Club and RBC to support CHEO’s ambitious redevelopment project aimed at transforming pediatric care for children and youth across the region.
The exclusive event will see 196 golfers descend upon the lush fairways of the renowned The Royal Ottawa Golf Club in Gatineau. Participants will enjoy a day of unparalleled golfing, networking, and philanthropy, all while contributing to a vital community cause. RBC has teamed up with CHEO Foundation as the presenting sponsor of the CHEO Charity Classic for the next three years. “Over the past 5 years, RBC Foundation has donated $2.7 million to CHEO to help transform pediatric healthcare for generations to come. We are thrilled to build on our longstanding support of CHEO through the Charity Classic and the 9th annual RBC Race for the Kids,” said Devinder Gill, RBC Regional President, Ontario North & East.
The tournament has set a significant fundraising goal: to raise $1 million over the next three years. These crucial funds will be directly invested into CHEO’s 10-year redevelopment plans that look to improve pediatric healthcare for generations to come. Key projects include the construction of a state-of-the-art integrated treatment centre, expanding the emergency department, renovating operating rooms, and re-imagining the model of care to be centred around the patient and family.
Guests at the CHEO Charity Classic presented by RBC can anticipate a world-class experience. Beyond the pristine greens, the day will be filled with engaging activations, exceptional food and beverage offerings, and prime networking opportunities with fellow business leaders and community members. Golfers will have the choice of playing a full 18 holes on the main course or opting for a 9-hole game on the Royal 9.
The fundraising efforts will extend beyond the course with both live and silent auctions featuring a host of sought-after items and experiences. All proceeds from these auctions will contribute directly to the overall financial target of the CHEO Charity Classic presented by RBC.
Emily Jamieson, VP of Corporate Philanthropy and Community Engagement at the CHEO Foundation, highlighted the importance of this new initiative. “This inaugural tournament is part of CHEO Foundation’s commitment to making a real difference in the lives of children, youth and families who rely on CHEO,” said Jamieson. “We know this ambitious goal will only be achieved with the support of generous people like those in the golfing community and leaders like those at The Royal Ottawa Golf Club. We look forward to welcoming you on July 7!”
The CHEO Charity Classic represents more than just a day on the links; it’s an investment in the future of pediatric healthcare in our community. Already, many companies such as, Fleming Communications Inc., Claridge Homes, Guardian Capital, Victaulic, Modern Niagara, Richcraft Homes, Tiree, HPE Aruba Networking & Compugen, Desjardins Ontario Credit Union, and iA Financial have signed on to sponsor the event. The CHEO Foundation and The Royal Ottawa Golf Club are eager to welcome golfers and supporters for what promises to be a memorable and impactful event, teeing off a new tradition of giving back to ensure CHEO can continue to provide the best possible care for kids these days, and for generations to come. Businesses and individuals looking to make a difference are encouraged to explore sponsorship opportunities and secure their spots for this must-attend event.
