Champions turn to Montreal company for concessions, Gabriel for pizza

With its official brewers and bats already in place, Ottawa’s newest professional baseball team announced multi-year deals on Monday for its concessions and its pizza.

The Ottawa Champions are turning to Montreal-based Sportscene Group, who will invest $100,000 to renovate and run four concession booths and the Fan Club restaurant, while Ottawa’s Gabriel Pizza is on board with the pie.

Owner and Can-Am League commissioner Miles Wolff said the team is excited to have the two new partners on board.

“It ensures that our fans will be treated to the best quality food and service at the ballpark,” he said in a statement.

This is Sportscene’s debut in Ontario, but the company already operates concessions for two other Quebec-based teams in the Can-Am league.

“With contracts already in Quebec City and Trois-Rivières, Ottawa is a natural extension for us,” CEO Jean Bedard said in a statement.

Gabriel Pizza president George Hanna said the deal shows his company’s commitment to local sports.

“It brings two winning teams together to showcase this exciting game while providing quality family entertainment to the national capital area,” Mr. Hanna said in a statement.

Opening day is May 22.
