The opportunity to play at Camelot Golf & Country Club while supporting local children is a winning combination – one that local golfers got to experience at this year’s Camelot QuickStart Charity Golf Tournament for Autism, where more than $122,000 was raised for local charity QuickStart Autism.
The buzz in the air was palpable as golfers arrived, ready to vie for titles and prizes in friendly competition that continued throughout the day. Lead sponsor and defence company 49North joined with a foursome, while Mark Motors Group, Canadian Tire Amherstburg and SAAB Canada were among the event’s 35 sponsors.
QuickStart Autism, a grassroots Ottawa charity that runs early intervention programs to bypass multi-year government waitlists, was founded by Suzanne and Jake Jacobson. Last year, 100 diagnostic assessments were funded by QuickStart Autism for children under 24 months.
“Because of QuickStart, my boys had their diagnoses before their second birthdays,” explains one parent that worked with QuickStart in 2025. “That early diagnosis opened the door to so much support… all at the exact time when early intervention is most critical.”
