BluMetric Environmental is more than doubling the size of its U.S. manufacturing facilities after acquiring a Florida-based wastewater treatment company last year.
The Ottawa-based firm said Thursday it has signed a new lease for a 25,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Gainesville, Fla., and will vacate its current 10,000-square-foot space in the city at the end of June.
BluMetric said the move will boost its capacity to take on new contracts from its growing customer base in the United States and accommodate additional hiring in Florida.
It comes just over four months after BluMetric acquired Gainesville-based Gemini Water for US$5 million in a bid to expand its footprint in the U.S. and the Caribbean.
Founded in 2015, Gemini Water designs, builds, installs, and commissions large-scale desalination and wastewater treatment systems using membrane-based technologies. The company serves nearly two dozen wastewater treatment locations in the Caribbean and Texas.
Gemini Water generated revenues of about US$7.3 million in its most recent fiscal year. It is currently installing a plant in the Caribbean nation of St. Kitts and Nevis that will be capable of desalinating two million gallons of water per day.
BluMetric, which specializes in water and wastewater solutions, serves customers in the commercial and industrial, military, mining and government sectors in Canada and the U.S.
The company, which has more than 200 employees, generated revenues of $34.8 million in fiscal 2024, down slightly from $35.1 million the previous year.
Meanwhile, BluMetric recently announced it has hired two new executives as it looks to create new revenue streams in the U.S. and the Caribbean.
Matthew Politzi, who has worked on water treatment projects across the Caribbean, U.S., China, Hong Kong, South America, Middle East, North Africa and Australia, has been named director of client experience, while veteran sales executive Kevin Wrubluski is BluMetric’s new director of operations.
