Passenger volumes at the Ottawa International Airport are trending downwards in the final quarter of 2019, with October seeing another sizeable drop-off in travellers passing through the local travel hub.
Some 420,563 people flew into or out of the Ottawa airport last month, roughly 18,000 fewer travellers than in October 2018. Traffic to and from the United States represented the biggest decrease, as some 49,252 travellers fell into the transborder segment last month, a decrease of 17 per cent year-over-year. International and domestic passenger volumes also saw drop-offs in October.
The Ottawa airport has now seen its overall traffic decline year-over-year for the past five months. Thanks to a strong start to the year, however, the local airport remains ahead of 2018 figures year-to-date.
