Ottawa could see as many as three pot shops open up when brick-and-mortar cannabis retail begins on April 1.
The latest proposal would see a storefront open up at 391 Bank St. in Centretown, across from the James Street Pub. A retail licence application on the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario’s online portal lists Karan Someshwar as the operator, with the shop itself under the name Hobo Recreational Cannabis Store.
Members of the public have until March 12 to submit feedback on the proposed location.

The Centretown pot shop joins two other proposed storefronts in Ottawa: one in the ByWard Market slated to be run under the Fire & Flower banner; another in Wellington West operated by Superette.
This should be the maximum number of initial storefronts Ottawa will see when physical retail begins this spring. The provincial government’s cannabis retail lottery allotted five total licences for eastern Ontario – Ottawa’s three shops plus two proposed storefronts in Kingston will likely fill out the region’s starting quota.
