Canopy Growth is turning to an established name in cash management to secure another kind of green.

“The cannabis industry requires at-scale security solutions in order to continue on a trend of global growth, and Brink’s is uniquely positioned to provide these solutions,” Brink’s president and CEO Doug Pertz said in a statement.

Brink’s, perhaps best known for the armoured trucks used to transport cash from banks, will provide Smiths Falls-based Canopy with logistics, cash management services and secure cannabis delivery both in Canada and around the world. The partnership, announced late last week, will extend to Canopy’s retail customers and affiliated growers through the development of a cross-selling platform.

“As a cannabis producer with growing national and international needs, we are proud to enter into this agreement and look forward to working with Brink’s to consistently deliver a variety of high-quality cannabis products to our retail locations and affiliates across the country,” said Mark Zekulin, Canopy Growth president and co-CEO, in a statement.

Ottawa-based 3|Sixty Secure announced last year it would get into the cannabis transport game as well. The security firm said its armoured vehicles would be specifically equipped with climate-control features and insurance policies tailored to the marijuana industry.
