A Gatineau-based retail software firm is expanding to Europe this month in response to strong brick-and-mortar demand overseas.
Foko Retail announced Wednesday morning it will open an office in Paris, France later this month with expectations of five hires in the next year. The store management platform, used by major brands such as Nike, Whole Foods and Indigo, allows franchisees to share pictures of in-store displays for approval or adjustment from HQ.
The new office will give Foko feet on the ground in catering to its clients across Europe, where the firm says demand is growing for better in-store customer experiences. Foko says it’s currently in 5,000 stores across the continent through partnerships with a dozen brands.

Foko raised roughly $2.6 million in an early-stage round four years ago and, at last count, had around 30 employees in Ottawa. CEO Marc Gingras told Techopia earlier this year that the company’s revenues were growing 10 per cent month-to-month, with expectations of more fundraising in the future.
Gingras said then that the next offering for Foko will be in-store analytics, whereby the platform could inform a business on which store displays are doing well and translate that information into suggestions for underperforming locations.
