A sold-out crowd of 75 individuals gathered at the University of Ottawa last week for Ottawa’s first Prism Awards to honour businesses and organizations with coaching programs.
The concept was developed by the Toronto chapter of the International Coach Federation to recognize outstanding organizational coaching initiatives that meet professional standards, address strategic goals, shape organizational culture and have measurable effects, local organizers say.
Bringing the awards program to Ottawa is, in part, a recognition of the evolving industry.

“Coaching … has evolved significantly in the last few years and has changed from being an executive perk to a game-changer for organizations,” said ICF Ottawa board chairperson Denis Levesque in a statement. “We now have clearly documented results showing that organizations that implement a coaching culture are more successful than their competitors.”
The recipients included:

– Export Development Canada (public sector); and
– Canadian Blood Services (not-for-profit).
