Vancouver-based Incognito Software taps into local talent with new Kanata office

Canadian firm Incognito Software Systems has expanded into the Kanata Technology Park in an effort to add to its existing global footprint.

Incognito CEO David Sharpley says he’s excited to be opening an Ottawa location. He’s been working in the Kanata technology park for years, watching it grow and diversify, and says the decision was a natural one.

“We never looked anywhere else,” he says. “(Telecom) expertise and talent is hard to find, and Ottawa is blessed by having an abundance of it.”

Sharpley was recruited to build Incognito’s local presence and became the firm’s CEO in 2017. The 10-person Kanata office at 515 Legget Dr. officially opened in August.

The Kanata team is currently a mix of development, marketing, sales and upper management employees. In the coming six months, Sharpley says he hopes to establish a full development team, drawing upon the talent available in Ottawa.

Incognito helps digital service providers manage broadband devices and services for their subscribers, and currently has more than 200 customers around the world. Sharpley says the firm is looking to grow on three fronts: increasing its international footprint via its existing product lineup; developing new products with the help of the Kanata team; and acquiring companies with complementary products.

Based in Vancouver, Incognito is a division of the Volaris Group, an operating arm of Toronto-based Constellation Software. Incognito’s acquisition by Constellation in 2014 helped the company grow its global footprint, says Sharpley, while allowing it to remain independent.

Incognito is also expanding to the Philippines to support its growing customer base there, and recently announced a partnership with Globe Telecom to manage DSL, fibre and fixed wireless services.
