The Ottawa Hospital Foundation’s Campaign to Create Tomorrow

Building one of the most technologically advanced research and teaching hospitals in Canada right here in Ottawa

A once-in-a-generation opportunity to transform healthcare, accelerate world-leading research, and build a future-ready hospital for our growing city and beyond.

The Campaign to Create Tomorrow is an ambitious $500-million fundraising effort that will help reshape how care is delivered for generations to come.

Let’s make history together

Healthcare is changing and the systems, spaces, and technologies used to care for patients also need to evolve — for a better, healthier future.

The new hospital on Carling Avenue will be a catalyst for change as part of The Ottawa Hospital’s broad vision to reshape the future of healthcare. The new campus will help increase capacity, improve efficiency, modernize how care is delivered, and unlock innovations that make treatment faster, safer, and more precise.

Ottawa is uniquely positioned to lead this moment

Ottawa is a national hub for health innovation — home to top research institutes, biotech companies, world-class universities, and one of the highest concentrations of tech talent in North America, tied only with San Francisco.

This city offers an ecosystem built for breakthroughs, and The Ottawa Hospital sits at the centre, already delivering the latest advancements in trauma care, regenerative medicine, cancer treatment, research, and emergency medicine. The new campus will build on these strengths — expanding our capabilities, accelerating discovery, and creating the state-of-the-art environment for our clinicians, researchers, and scientists to shape the next century of care.

Building on The Ottawa Hospital’s existing network of 22 satellite locations, which provide specialized care across the region, the new campus will help support the hospital’s vision to provide patients with the care they need, where they need it — whether it’s early and preventative community-based services, hospital-based care for the most critically ill, long-term care, or home care.

The new hospital will help address capacity, improve access, and help patients move through their healthcare journey.

All of this is made possible with your support.

The economic impact

Major hospital infrastructure projects create significant economic benefits. Construction of the new campus is projected to generate over $1.24 billion in labour income, 4,000+ full-time equivalent jobs in Ottawa alone, and nearly $2 billion into the local economy.

Every donation, large or small, brings the future of healthcare closer to reality.

We’re taking research to unprecedented heights

The Ottawa Hospital has long been recognized as one of Canada’s leading research hospitals, driving discoveries that change lives across the country. Now, the Campaign to Create Tomorrow will take us even further — building on this legacy and establishing Ottawa as a global hub for groundbreaking medical innovation.

Our new campus will help propel research to unprecedented levels and will be home for researchers and physicians to continue to turn innovation into action — helping discoveries quickly translate into new treatments.

A hospital built for extraordinary care

Single-patient room with private bathrooms, “Smart” digital screen, and space for loved ones to stay overnight.

A dedicated hub for one of the strongest neuroscience research and care teams in the world.

A rooftop helipad with high-speed elevators to bring critically ill and injured patients directly to the Trauma Centre and dedicated access routes for ambulances will lead directly to a weather-resilient Emergency bay.

Designed to withstand climate change and environmental disasters while supporting water conservation, energy-efficient building services, green transportation, and our ambitious goal of being net-zero ready.

Planning of both the interior and exterior design will ensure dignified, equitable, and inclusive access for patients, visitors and staff with all types of physical, visual, hearing, mental health, intellectual, and learning disabilities.
