What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of bikini lines? If you’re part of Ottawa’s tech scene, you might think of an up-and-coming startup that’s quite literally turning heads with its products. Founded in 2016, Bushbalm specializes in “advanced skin care products” that can be used after waxing bikini line areas. Its first big break came in 2020, when Bushbalm appeared on Dragons’ Den and gained lots of media attention. That momentum continues today with Bushbalm ranking first on OBJ’s 2022 Fastest Growing Companies list with three-year revenue growth of 5,570 per cent.
In this episode of Techopia Live, OBJ publisher Michael Curran speaks with Bushbalm CEO David Gaylord about his entrepreneurial journey, the Dragons’ Den pitch, how the startup is using marketing automation to drive its sales and what’s next for the Ottawa-based startup.
