Purchase of competitor latest U.S. acquisition for Ross Video

Ross Video, a developer of robotic cameras and video production equipment, has purchased a U.S.-based competitor

The company, which is based in Iroquois, Ont., south of Ottawa, has acquired Wisconsin-based Automated Data Systems. The U.S. company is the maker of a TV news production software suite, along with standalone closed-captioning and teleprompter software.

Ross says it will continue to support ADS’ EZNews product. Ross will also offer its competing news production suite, Inception, to ADS’ former customers.

“EZNews is popular among colleges and universities training broadcast journalists for the industry – a very important long term customer base for Ross,” said David Ross, the company’s CEO, in a statement.

“We will also continue to support EZPrompt, a popular, low-cost Windows based teleprompting software system with over 6,000 customers.”

Three ADS employees will join Ross Video.

This is the eighth acquisition Ross Video has made in the past four years. In October the company announced it had purchased Mobile Content Providers, a South Florida company that served major sports networks and universities in the United States.

Ross Video, which is a privately-held company, declined to reveal the price of the acquisition.
