An Ottawa-based television production company is continuing its global expansion push with a new deal to provide live streaming of its programming on a major U.S. internet TV service.
Gusto Worldwide Media said Wednesday it’s launching a dedicated channel on Sling TV, a streaming service owned by the Dish Network that has more than 2.6 million subscribers in the United States.
Under the agreement, Gusto will deliver original content such as its popular cooking shows The Urban Vegetarian, Spencer’s BIG 30 and One World Kitchen, while Sling TV will supplement the live Gusto TV stream with 75 hours of on-demand content. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

It’s the latest international licensing agreement for Gusto Worldwide Media, which produces food and lifestyle programming out of a state-of-the-art studio in Ottawa’s south end that opened two years ago.
The company now operates channels on multiple platforms in the U.S., Singapore, Latin America and the United Kingdom. In 2016, Gusto sold the Canadian rights to its productions to Bell Media.
CEO Chris Knight told OBJ in 2018 his goal is to turn Gusto into a global brand. Today’s over-the-top internet technology means producers no longer need access to expensive satellite services to broadcast programming around the world, he said.
“There are a tremendous amount of opportunities in all of the content we do for all of this global expansion push,” he said. “It’s out of a business park in Ottawa, which I think is kind of cool.”
