Ottawa landscaper fined for not paying employees – again

Ryan Langtry, owner of Ottawa Landscape Masters, has been fined $15,000 for failing to pay his workers, but it’s not the first time he’s been charged.

For the second time in three years, Ottawa Landscape Masters owner Ryan Langtry has been fined for withholding wages.

On Thursday, an Ontario justice of the peace fined Langtry $15,000 for failing to pay five workers a total of $5,261 in wages after being ordered to do so by a Ministry of Labour official.

Langtry did pay the wages in full before pleading guilty, according to a ministry statement.

Langtry faced a similar trial in 2013, when he was fined $17,000 for defying 13 orders to pay his employees.

He’ll also pay a 25 per cent victim surcharge.
