Take time to honour Ottawa’s finest in philanthropy!

Giving back to our community is a fundamental tenet in Ottawa, where we are known for our generosity and altruism. For more than 25 years, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Ottawa has hosted The Annual Philanthropy Awards, honouring those individuals, families, groups and businesses who make our city a better place through their generosity.

These awards celebrate the outstanding contribution of time, leadership and financial support of a special group of people who set new benchmarks of excellence in the acts of giving and volunteering.

“The annual Philanthropy Awards is such a special opportunity for our city to come together in recognition of exemplary community spirit and the power of giving,” says Teresa Marques, president of AFP Ottawa and CEO of the Rideau Hall Foundation.

This year, more than ever, our community has rallied together in support of each other during these unprecedented times. Many people, businesses, charities, groups and organizations have displayed outstanding leadership through the COVID-19 global pandemic. To honour them, AFP Ottawa has created a new nomination category for Outstanding Emergency Response. Other categories include Outstanding: Individual, Corporate, Youth, Group, Small Business, Volunteer and Fundraising Professional.

AFP Ottawa is currently accepting nominations in all eight categories, with the deadline for submission on Friday, June 5, 2020 at 5 p.m.

AFP Ottawa and the Philanthropy Awards Committee are looking forward to honouring the eight chosen award recipients in November in conjunction with National Philanthropy Day.

The 26th Annual Philanthropy Awards is proudly presented by WCPD Foundation.

Last year’s AFP Philanthropy Award winners include: Paul McCarney, H.O.P.E. Volleyball Summerfest, Buffet des Continents, DYMON Storage, Marina Kun, Logan Hussein and Jim Orban.
