An affiliate of Hyatt Hotels has entered an agreement with Claridge Homes to bring a new hotel to the ByWard Market by mid-2016.
The 200-room Andaz Ottawa Byward Market will be built at 325 Dalhousie Street, at York Street, where the old Union Du Canada building once stood. It will be the first Andaz-branded hotel in Canada. The hotels can be found in international cities like London, New York, Los Angeles, Shanghai, and Tokyo.
The hotel will also have a destination restaurant, a rooftop bar and lounge, and meeting facilities.

Andaz Ottawa Byward Market plans to work with local artists, musicians, designers and other cultural groups on programming unique to Ottawa. The Andaz Salon will feature interactive, on-property and virtual events to support the community’s emerging talent.
“We are delighted to bring the first Andaz hotel to Ottawa and Canada. We believe it will become the new center of social connections in the Byward Market as well as in Ottawa,” Claridge Homes vice-president Neil Malhotra said in a statement. “The Andaz brand’s creativity and refined, yet casual atmosphere will elevate the neighborhood and will connect guests to the best of the local community.”
