The Ottawa Board of Trade and Ottawa Business Journal hosted a Mayor’s Breakfast featuring Jeffrey Maddox, President of Nokia Canada, for a discussion on Ottawa’s growing influence in the global digital economy.

The event highlighted Nokia’s significant presence in Ottawa, where more than 2,500 employees are focused primarily on research and development, advancing technologies in artificial intelligence, high-speed connectivity, quantum security, and next-generation communications infrastructure. Attendees heard how Nokia’s Ottawa operations rank among the company’s top five global sites and play a critical role in developing innovations that support 5G networks, data centres, and emerging digital technologies.

A key announcement shared during the breakfast was Nokia’s planned construction of a new 750,000-square-foot campus in Ottawa, representing an investment of more than $1 billion and reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to the region. The conversation also explored
