L-Spark names four companies to accelerator’s second cohort

Four companies have been accepted into the second cohort of L-Spark’s accelerator, the Kanata-based organization announced Wednesday.

Two of the companies – ZINation and Cliniconex – are graduates of the first cohort of L-Spark’s incubator.

ZINation is an automated merchandising platform for e-commerce storefronts that already boasts several thousand clients and manages tens of thousands of digital assets. Cliniconex, a patient reminder and survey software application, developed several new partnerships and will look to continue that progress in the accelerator.

FileFacets and CareerLaunch are the other two successful applicants. Kanata’s FileFacets is a cloud-based information governance product. Toronto-based CareerLaunch is a job search management application allowing job seekers to track and manage their searches across all hiring resources.

L-Spark managing director Leo Lax said 190 qualified applicants went through a “rigorous selection process” before the four successful applicants were announced.

“Now it’s time for the founders to get to work with our team of mentors and advisers to accelerate sales and prepare for investment,” Mr. Lax said in a statement.

The nine-month accelerator for enterprise software startups begins immediately, with all four companies moving into the L-Spark facilities. There they will have access to mentorship and opportunities to pitch to angel investors and venture capitalists in a bid to accelerate them to Series A investment.

They will also get one-on-one meetings with L-Spark’s champion partners – Google, Microsoft BizSpark Plus, Citrix, OpenText, Mitel and IBM – to explore partnership opportunities.

Meanwhile, L-Spark’s incubator is accepting applications for its second cohort until Dec. 18.
