L-Spark announces fresh fall accelerator cohort

L-Spark, the Kanata-based SaaS accelerator, announced its late-stage fall cohort today.

The six companies ⎼ with applications ranging from ensuring workplace wellness to feeding hungry students ⎼ will move into L-Spark’s workspaces for nine months of mentorship, workshops and interaction with other entrepreneurs.

The following companies make up the fall 2016 accelerator cohort:

OBJ360 (Sponsored)
  • Bluink: An enterprise security systems provider based on the smartphone as an authentication token

  • Hangry: An app allowing students to order and pay for food on campus before they arrive, saving precious time between classes

  • Lurniture: A video SaaS platform delivering bite-size, peer-to-peer videos aimed at streamlining onboarding and coaching of new members in a salesforce

  • Member365: Platform providing organizations one-stop shopping for managing every aspect of memberships from renewal, to contact information, to fundraising

  • Optimity: B2B SaaS business helping organizations improve employee wellness by utilizing aggregate data gleaned from wearables and custom apps to identify segments of the workforce at high-risk for depression, diabetes and heart disease

  • Worx: Provides a hybrid cloud platform for companies with complex products, maximizing  financial returns on these products by enabling efficient collaboration between resources

These six SaaS startups were selected after a three-week bootcamp and a pitchfest held in September; a selection committee including Microsoft Canada and Wesley Clover International chose the six winning applicants.

The ambitious goal for companies at the end of the accelerator is, as always, 10x revenue growth.

Expectations are steep but it may pay to make the class: multiple graduates have secured funding post-Spark, including Better Software and, more recently, Cliniconex.

And new startups, listen up: Applications for L-Spark’s early winter 2017 cohort are opening next week, Oct. 25. Procrastinating on your submission until the very last minute to apply starts … now.
