An Ottawa developer is hoping to add another high-end apartment building to its complex in the Kanata Lakes neighbourhood in the west end.
Group Lepine is asking the city to allow it to construct a 10-storey, 173-unit apartment building at 1047 Canadian Shield Ave. as part of its Kanata Lakes Apartments project. That would go along with a layer of retail on the structure’s ground floor.
The developer hopes the new building would be one of five residential projects it hopes to construct in the area.

A 10-storey, 146-unit building already exists at the site. The developer is currently constructing another structure of the same height and hopes to build 12- and five-storey buildings in the future.
Planning documents filed with the city also call for a skating rink, common area and playground in the middle of the buildings.
Group Lepine also wants to build an interconnected underground parking facility at the site, the documents show.
