Heavy rain may have disrupted the golf after nine holes, but it certainly didn’t cancel the spirit of the Ottawa Chinese Community Service Centre (OCCSC) Charity Golf Tournament at Pine View Golf Course on Aug. 8.
Instead of heading home, community members, business leaders, sponsors and supporters moved indoors, turning an unexpected weather challenge into an afternoon filled with laughter, conversation and connection. Guests enjoyed food, entertainment, activities, prize presentations and a best-dressed competition while learning more about OCCSC’s work in the community.
At the heart of the tournament was a larger purpose: raising funds to support OCCSC’s programs and services for vulnerable youth and newcomer families in Ottawa.
The event was supported by diamond sponsor Punta Pacifica Realty, which contributed prizes for participant giveaways. GoodLife Fitness provided gift bags and water bottles, while Gravitate Travel participated as the hole-in-one dponsor. RBC, Scotiabank and numerous other sponsors also helped make the event possible.
OCCSC CEO Queenie Huynh thanked sponsors, volunteers, staff and participants for embracing the change of plans. And while the rain kept golfers off the course, the dining room was filled with smiles and laughter – transforming a rainout into a memorable celebration of resilience, generosity and community spirit.
