Poloz at committee
Bank of Canada governor Stephen Poloz appears before the House of Commons finance committee on Tuesday and then at the Senate’s banking committee on Wednesday. The central bank raised its key interest rate target last week to 1.75 per cent, a move that prompted the large banks to raise their prime lending rates.
October jobs picture
Statistics Canada releases its labour force survey for October on Friday. The September report showed the country’s job market bounced back from August with a gain of 63,000 positions, edging the unemployment rate lower to 5.9 per cent.
