The federal government has awarded a $38.7-million contract for the Canadian arm of American firm DRS Technologies Inc. to build military communications equipment in Carleton Place.
The contract will require the firm to employ 36 different workers in Ontario, according to a news release issued by the company.
The new equipment means soldiers will be able to use an intercom to speak with one another, said a news release from the military. Radios will help them communicate with other vehicles, troops and headquarters.
