Construction permits up 11% in January

The value of local construction permits was up $2 million, year-over-year, in January, according to municipal records.

The city issued 483 permits with a combined value of $203.2 million, compared to 466 permits with a total value of $182.9 million a year earlier.

Last month’s numbers were driven in large part by two downtown office tower projects on Elgin Street. Other notable deals include a five-storey addition to the Perley Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre.
