Major multimillion-dollar construction projects at shopping centres downtown and in Kanata helped push up the value of permits the City of Ottawa handed out in October by 50 per cent.
The city registered $295,911,117 worth of permits for the month. That’s up from the $197,215,495 that it gave out in October 2012.
The total number of permits also increased to 825 in October from 715 a year earlier.
