Chipotle Mexican Grill will open its second Ottawa location in Stittsville this Thursday, the brand confirmed in an email to OBJ.

The newest restaurant will be located at 5671 Hazeldean Rd., replacing the former Benny & Co. restaurant. The first Ottawa location opened at the Rideau Centre in 2017.

The fast-casual restaurant will be the fifth in Canada to feature the brand’s new “Chipotlane,”  a drive-thru lane that allows customers to pick up their digital orders at a designated time without leaving their cars.

The feature, which replaces the in-person ordering process by allowing customers to order and pay in advance through an app, aims to ensure the drive-thru experience is as efficient as possible.

The first Canadian Chipotle location to feature the drive-thru pickup service was in Port Coquitlam in 2021.

Chipotle also confirmed in an email that it plans to open a third Ottawa location at 4210 Innes Rd. in Orléans, at the site of the former Benny & Co. restaurant in the Smart Centres plaza. The chain did not give an opening date, but confirmed it would open “this winter.” This location is expected to also feature the Chipotlane option.

“We’re thrilled to reignite our growth in the Ottawa market,” Anat Davidzon, Chipotle’s managing director of international, said in the email.

In March 2021, the California-based company announced its intent to accelerate expansion into Canada, with a focus on Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia.

With the opening of its newest location, Chipotle will bring its national footprint to 51 restaurants.

Chipotle serves burritos, bowls, tacos and salads prepared fresh daily.
