Vancouver-based social media management platform Hootsuite has hired a longtime Ottawa tech executive to fill a key role on its software development team.
Hootsuite announced Monday that Manish Kamra is joining the company as senior vice-president of software development and will remain based in the nation’s capital.
An alumnus of India’s Mangalore University, Kamra brings more than 25 years of experience in software R&D to the role. Most recently, he served as vice-president of software development and head of CENX product development at Ericsson’s Ottawa office.

Kamra joined CENX in late 2017, less than a year before it was acquired by Ericsson. Before that, he worked in various senior software and engineering roles at a number of major tech firms with prominent Ottawa operations, including Nortel, Newbridge Networks, BlackBerry and Wind River.
In a news release Monday, Hootsuite said Kamra will be responsible for “evaluating emerging technologies and engineering practices with a strategic focus on partnerships and potential acquisitions” as well as managing corporate R&D initiatives.
“Manish is a driven, clear and charismatic leader who approaches his work with a growth mindset,” Donovan said in a statement.
“His capabilities will serve him well as he leads our global software development strategy and as our company continues on a trajectory of high growth. I’m excited to welcome Manish to our team and am confident in his ability to continue to unlock innovation within our platform.”
