A well-known family-owned logistics company headquartered in Smiths Falls has acquired a Carp-based competitor as it continues to expand its eastern Ontario footprint.
Wills Transfer said earlier this month it’s purchased Orange Logistics Centres, a third-party logistics business that operates a 30,000-square-foot warehouse in the far west end of Ottawa. The facility stores and ships parts and equipment for a range of tech firms and manufacturers, specializing in serving clients in the wind and solar energy industries.
Wills Transfer president Terry Wills called the Carp operation a good “strategic fit” for his business.

Founded in 1945, Wills Transfer now operates more than 800,000 square feet of warehouse space in Ottawa, Perth, Smiths Falls, Brockville and Carp.
Earlier this year, the company announced it is building a 225,000-square-foot distribution centre in Ingleside, just west of Cornwall, to meet growing demand for its services.
