One of the Ottawa region’s fastest-growing food and catering chains is bringing a whole new meaning to the phrase “expansion drive.”
Kettleman’s Bagel Co., which currently operates three outlets in Ottawa and plans to move into the Montreal and Toronto markets in the near future, said this week it’s opening a new location in Kanata in early 2021. But the local company’s new west-end shop will be far from your typical bakery – it’s being billed as the world’s first Montreal-style bagel shop with a drive-through.
If the reaction to the company’s social media posts is any indication, bagel-lovers in the capital are definitely revved up about the concept.

Kettleman’s isn’t likely to shift out of expansion mode any time soon.
Owner Craig Buckley told OBJ a few years ago his goal was to have between 20 and 25 restaurants. Last year, the company landed at No. 275 on the Growth 500 list of Canada’s fastest-growing firms, with five-year revenue growth of 306 per cent.
