Carp-based BluMetric Environmental has signed a $1.6-million deal to provide water remediation services to a mine in the Northwest Territories.
The local cleantech firm, which specializes in water and wastewater treatment technology and has received several multimillion-dollar contracts in recent years from the mining sector, said the contract to operate and maintain the effluent treatment plant at Giant Mine in Yellowknife will last five months. BluMetric will partner with Det’on Cho Management, the economic development arm of the Yellowknives Dene First Nation, on the project.
“Our team leveraged our extensive experience, including that gained from having recently completed similar engineering projects at comparable mining-related facilities, to develop a winning proposal that accommodates not only the usual operating complexities associated with Canada’s remote north, but also addresses the unprecedented challenges stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic,” BluMetric CEO Scott MacFabe said in a statement.
