A 260-unit highrise might soon pop up on Carling Avenue if a local developer secures a bylaw amendment to build as high as 22 storeys.
Ottawa-based Surface Developments has submitted plans to build a mixed-use highrise at the intersection of Carling Avenue and Churchill Street North in Westboro. The proposed tower would stretch 22 storeys high with a six-storey podium, 8,560 square feet of at-grade commercial space and a 260-space underground parking garage with 134 spots for bicycles.
The developer is seeking a zoning bylaw amendment to allow a highrise residential-use building, as well as to increase the permitted heights in the area from 20 metres to 67.5 metres and reduce the required setbacks. Planning committee is expected to review the application in early 2020.
