Construction launched this week on a long-awaited health facility in Ottawa’s east end.
The Orléans Health Hub, located at the intersection of Mer-Bleue Road and Brian Coburn Boulevard, is a public-private partnership between the Ontario government and local healthcare institutions such as Hôpital Montfort, the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario and Bruyère Continuing Care. The province announced a contribution of up to $75 million in the bilingual health services centre on Tuesday.
EllisDon won a $59.7-million contract to build the one-storey, 96,000-square-foot facility earlier this month. The contractor says up to 200 workers will be on-site at peak construction times, with work expected to wrap up in spring 2021.
The Orléans Health Hub – which has been in the works for several years – would open to the public the following summer, providing services such as rehabilitation, mental health counselling, diagnostic imaging and other specialist clinics.
