Quarterhill’s subsidiary International Road Dynamics lived up to its global name this week, securing a $6.4-million transportation system contract through a joint venture in Ukraine.
The firm, which Ottawa-based Quarterhill acquired two years ago in its transition to the industrial Internet of Things sector, develops weigh-in-motion systems to collect data on commercial vehicles passing through checkpoints.
IRD will work with Ukraine’s SEA Electronics and Automagistral-Pivden to install 20 lanes of weigh-in-motion systems around the country’s capital, Kyiv. Once installed, the systems will provide The State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine with regulatory information on vehicles that may be violating size and weight limits.
