From pasta to Mexican food, Ottawa’s restaurant scene continues to evolve and is gaining some new locations this summer. OBJ trolled its social media channels to find who’s moving and who’s opening where.
Ruby’s
Located at 10 York St. in the historic Clarendon Courtyard, Ruby’s opened its doors late last month in the former location of Oz Kafe.
Ruby’s is the sister restaurant to The Belmont, located at 1169 Bank St. in Old Ottawa South.
“We’re adding a kooky sibling to the Belmont family and it’s opening soon,” The Belmont posted on its Instagram page in early May. “Ruby’s will have the same great vibes you love at Belmont with a touch more elegance.”
With a mix of Canadian and European fare, the menu features snacks, small plates, entrees and desserts using Canadian ingredients.
Coqueto
Located at 12 Lebreton St. N. in Chinatown, this Mexican snack lounge opened in early June.
“Coqueto is an independent project built by friends, inspired by our love for great Mexican snacks and good company. At Coqueto, we want you to feel at home,” Coqueto posted on its Instagram page in mid-May.
The menu includes sweet and savoury items such as shaved ice, rice pudding, horchata, agua fresca, a loaded corn bowl and Mexican street-style corn on the cob.
Junior & The Kid BBQ
Junior & The Kid BBQ has opened a new location at 117 Beechwood Ave., moving from its first location in Rockland.
“We have absolutely loved and appreciated our time in Rockland and are so thankful for the support that the community showed us. It’s been a pleasure to meet you all and we hope you come and see us at the new location,” the eatery posted to its Instagram page in mid-May.
According to the business’s website, owner Chris “The Kid” Villeneuve’s love for cooking was inspired by his grandfather, who was known as “Junior.”
The new location is serving up the same barbecue fare it has offered since 2018, including brisket, pulled pork, chicken and mac-and-cheese.
Junior & The Kid also joined the concession offerings at Ottawa Stadium at the beginning of the Ottawa Titans’s 2026 season.
All Out Burger
All Out Burger is opening at 2525 Bank St. in the former location of The Works and closing its food truck location at 2560 Bank St. later this month
“What began as one location with one simple goal — to serve fresh, high-quality burgers and smash burgers made with premium ingredients, while delivering outstanding customer service, has quickly grown into six locations across Ottawa … Now, we’re raising the bar even higher at our newest location: 2525 Bank Street!” the burger restaurant said in an Instagram post this week.
All Out Burger also opened a location at 5100 Kanata Ave. in the city’s west end in June. It operates four other locations across the city, including one in Embrun.
Pasta Pony
Located at 1013 Wellington St. W., this pasta bar is poised to take over the former location of the Ministry of Coffee, which closed its doors in January 2025.
There is currently no opening date for the pasta bar, but Pasta Pony took to its social media channels to call out for job candidates.
“We’re opening a neighbourhood pasta bar. We think it’s gonna be pretty cool. But, that can’t happen without a great team,” the pasta bar said on Instagram this week.
