Ottawa’s 3|Sixty Secure Corp. has partnered with a Toronto compliance firm to safely transport cannabis as adjacent industries such as the security sector ready themselves to take advantage of next year’s impending legalization.
The local security firm announced this week it has teamed up with Cannabis Compliance Inc. to protect and ensure the safe delivery of medical marijuana shipments.
A release states that 3|Sixty’s armoured vehicles are specifically designed for marijuana transportation, with climate control features and cannabis-specific insurance policies.

While the partnership is currently structured around medical marijuana, the release mentions an anticipated need to serve more than 500 licensed producers when recreational marijuana is legalized, a move slated for next July.
“Given the strong black market demand for cannabis – both in Canada and abroad – our clients need peace of mind to protect and ensure their wholesale shipments,” said CCI chief executive Brian Wagner in a statement.
Aside from armoured transport, 3|Sixty also provides personal security and risk assessment services.
Other industries may soon pivot towards pot as well.
Canopy Growth CEO Bruce Linton said last year that he’s anticipating alcohol and tobacco companies to take a stake in marijuana once the recreational market hits the mainstream. Grocery store chain Loblaws has indicated an interest in selling marijuana as well, though Ontario legislation is expected to put pot sales behind a provincial authority.
