Just under one month into its first foray into marketing directly to consumers, Kanata-based LiveQoS is very happy with the results, the company said Monday.
The company’s file sharing app SuperBeam has been downloaded 4.2 million times since its launch on Aug. 6, the company’s vice-president of business development James McMillan said, and it has been used to transfer more than 200 million files.
And the good reviews continue to pour in, he said.

“We’ve had just over 87,000 reviews on Google Play … We’re averaging 4.3 stars on that, just over 55,000 five-star ratings as well.”
The app is available in two versions – the free one and the pro one, which sells for $1.99. While the majority of the downloads have been the free version, it has still exposed the company to a wider market that will help business down the road, Mr. McMillan said.

Hewlett-Packard uses LiveQoS technology in its HP Velocity software that rebuilds network packets that get lost or damaged. Mr. McMillan said LiveQoS is in the process of securing similar agreements with a couple other large original equipment manufacturers.
LiveQoS aims to enhance the quality of experience for its clients, meaning things such as faster file transfer, a better user interface experience and a better communications experience, he said.
The company, which has about 50 employees at its headquarters on Legget Drive, is preparing to launch its next product, which Mr. McMillan said is geared more towards the application performance monitoring and optimization space.
He said the company has no specific target date, but the product should be ready later this year.
“We’re on a tear, having a lot of fun!” he said.
