The City of Ottawa’s light rail project got a provincial shot in the arm Monday, as the Wynne government announced Ottawa would get $34.3 million from Ontario’s gas tax program.
Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson said progress on the LRT is evident around the city and the project continues to be on schedule.
“This work — and all that is yet to come, including the exciting Stage 2 expansion of light rail by 2023 — would not be possible without the Province’s commitment to ongoing funding of public transit,” Mr. Watson said in a statement.
