New pair of Ottawa condo developments to go before planning committee

A pair of condo development proposals, one downtown and one in Lowertown, will be up for debate at a city planning committee next week.

Morguard Corp. wants to build a 23-storey condo and 27-storey hotel on the corner of Sparks and Bay streets. To do so, it would have to demolish the existing 17-storey hotel and small apartment building. The company needs city approval to build higher than the allotted height limit.

The other condo proposal is for two 25-storey buildings with 586 residential units and commercial space on the Chapel Street.
