The BBN is led by the Ontario Restaurant, Hotel and Motel Association. Its president and CEO, Tony Elenis, said all the winners have set high standards to reduce the risk of alcohol-related issues.
“By developing positive relationships with neighbours, patrons, the city, law enforcement and industry partners, the winners are helping make the community safer and the experience for patrons more enjoyable,” Mr. Elenis said in a statement.
Judges consisted of members of BBN, Mothers Against Drunk Driving and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
“Everyone has a responsibility to keep our roads safe,” MADD Canada CEO Andrew Murie said in a statement. “That’s why MADD Canada is pleased to work with Best Bar None and industry partners to recognize these establishments for their successful track record of building patron and community safety into their businesses.”
Awards were handed out in six categories:
Best Bar/Lounge: Real Sports Bar & Grill
Best Restaurant: Fatboys Southern Smokehouse
Best Club: Kavali
Best Pub: Pub 101
Best Hotel: Courtyard Marriott
People’s Choice: The Liquor Store Party Bar/Green Room
