The federal government is looking for construction companies to complete a six-figure reconstruction of the watermain servicing the Cliff Heating and Cooling Plant.
Solicitation documents show Public Works officials are budgeting between $250,000 and $500,000 for the 16-week job.
The project includes open trenching and directional drilling to create adequate space for the installation of two or three fire hydrants and associated piping.

The federal government has poured tens of millions of dollars into the Cliff Heating and Cooling Plant, located on the western edge of downtown, in recent years to rebuild the facility following a fatal 2009 explosion.
There are 52 buildings, housing approximately 50,000 employees, serviced by the Cliff distribution system in Ottawa-Gatineau, including many parliamentary buildings and the U.S. Embassy.
Interested companies have until Feb. 29 to submit a bid on the latest project.
