DREAM REIT wins federal tender for 219 Laurier Ave. W.

Toronto-based DREAM REIT has confirmed to OBJ it won a federal government tender last week for 126,500 square feet of office space at 219 Laurier Ave. W.

DREAM’s director of leasing for the National Capital Region, Gordon Wadley, said in an e-mail that the building is now completely full, but would not disclose which government department is moving in or who vacated the space to make it available.

The tender falls in line with the federal government’s “footprint reduction strategy,” Mr. Wadley wrote.

“(Public Works and Government Services Canada) wants their team to be in better quality and environmentally sustainable space,” he wrote, adding that all government landlords must now provide a higher LEED standard and “better operational practices” to keep the government as tenants.

“DREAM sees this as a great opportunity to not only improve our buildings but also attract, retain and sustain tenants who share the same values and commitment,” Mr. Wadley wrote, adding the company is now updating the building to LEED Silver status and renovating it to comply with the government’s workplace 2.0 standard.

The same work is being done at DREAM’s building at 400 Cumberland St.
