A new partnership between Rogers Centre Ottawa and Escape Manor Ottawa is a “match made in heaven,” according to one of the partners at the local interactive entertainment business.

“We’ve been looking to do this for a long time,” said Steve Wilson, partner and chief marketing officer at Escape Manor. “We actually have some great friends at the Rogers Centre. We’ve played hockey with (Josh Verch, director of marketing and partnerships) and I also know Lesley (Pincombe, president and CEO) from being on the board of directors for Ottawa Tourism for six years.”

Starting in 2014 with escape rooms, the business model has morphed over the years to include all kinds of interactive entertainment, Wilson said.

“It’s ideal for team bonding and getting people off their devices and just having them be more human again. We love seeing people gel and leave their corporate titles at the door. You could have an office administrator solve the final puzzle where a C-suite exec might be stuck. Everybody comes out with a whole new appreciation for each other,” he said.

Plus, Escape Manor’s offerings will come with a corporate twist.

“We have a corporate coach that will observe the teams in the rooms and then spend some time with them afterwards, showcasing and teaching them all of the different tactics that were used in the room and how those can be pivoted back to their actual workplace to solve day-to-day problems,” Wilson explained.

When the day’s events are done, teams can head to the Manor Lounge on Elgin Street where Wilson said there is other live entertainment, from Broadway night to an adult magic show.

“All of these (events) could be populated by (corporate) groups … as well as the cross-pollination of these artists that play at our location might pick up gigs with them at conventions. It really allows us to showcase our food and beverage, our immersive entertainment escape rooms as well as our live entertainment offerings to a much more vast audience.”

Partnering with the Rogers Centre Ottawa will allow Escape Manor, which has locations in Toronto, Hamilton, Regina, Saskatoon and Brisbane, Australia, to market to a new pool of potential customers, he said.

“We see it sending us folks that we haven’t necessarily marketed to because a lot of their clientele comes from out of town. Especially these times with all of the negative news cycle and economic strife, it has people sitting on their wallets a little bit. So corporate groups tend to be more reliable and definitely a very big part of business.”

“Escape Manor Ottawa offers an exciting way for our clients to enhance their events beyond traditional meeting formats,” said Verch from Rogers Centre Ottawa in a news release Wednesday. “Providing options for interactive activities allows delegates to network and build stronger connections while enjoying a memorable Ottawa experience.”
