As part of its strategy to connect Ontario business travellers to Western Canada, WestJet is increasing its domestic seat capacity out of Ottawa for 2025, the company announced Monday.
Specifically, the Canadian airline will increase service between Ottawa and Alberta.
The route from YOW to Calgary will see an 18-per-cent increase in service levels, flying up to 26 times a week. Service between Ottawa and Edmonton will fly up to 13 times per week, a 117-per-cent increase.

“WestJet has been a long-standing and successful partner at YOW,” Joel Tkach, vice-president of business development and marketing for the Ottawa International Airport Authority, said in a press release. “This significant increase in service to their Calgary hub not only enhances non-stop access to YYC, but also opens up a wide range of destinations across WestJet’s extensive western network.”
The company also released its summer 2025 schedule, which includes domestic seat capacity growth of 36 per cent out of Ottawa and 14 per cent out of Toronto compared to this past summer. WestJet said the increase is part of a strategy to optimize connectivity between Ontario and Western Canada, especially for business travellers.
The airline previously increased service out of YOW to Winnipeg earlier this year. In June, flight frequency between the two cities increased from three times a week to daily service.
